![]() The game improves dramatically once you get past it. Just my opinion, but I think a lot of people would agree. I went with a Scoundrel thinking I would go a stealth/persuasion route, but found out pretty early on that it wasn't what I thought ie, stealth is almost irrelevant for most of the game and persuasion isn't quite the banger it is in many other RPGs. It's probably worth reading a spoiler free-ish guide on the class system in KOTOR before you start too. I don't recommend trying to make the player character a jack of all trades. This game's combat is all about min/maxing your characters and having a synergistic squad. If you aren't already familiar with a D&D style combat system, especially when it comes to attributes/modifiers, do yourself a favor and read up on it. Again, this is easy enough to overcome and the internet is your friend, but it's annoying. There is a prevalent issue with the cutscenes/movies and widescreen/resolution in general causing blank screens or crashes. Most are *very* minor and easily overcome. If you can work around these though - which is very doable - this game is worth the time. That said, there are some VERY fair criticisms and I offer a few here for any new players coming to this 20 year old game (lol, I know). Oh, and there is almost no required grinding, at least for levels/loots, which is a huge win in an RPG. The voice acting is shockingly well done, except for some of the repetition with the alien languages audio and a couple random NPCs. This is a truly great game - mostly well paced with a good story, enough likable characters, and customization throughout. I like me an RPG, and I had always heard amazing things about KOTOR and thought I'd give it a shot. ![]()
